Federation Peak Walk
Southwest National Park Distance : 65kms Location : South/Western Tasmania. Lake Pedder Area This hike is the same National Park as the previous hike, (Western Arthurs Walk) so the same information applies. The start of the hike is at Farmhouse creek and finishes at Scotts Peak Dam, on Lake Pedder. The trail is a high-level alpine traverse from east to west along the Eastern Arthur Range. This is a most challenging destination and its dramatic appearance, remote location and difficulty of ascent make it irresistible to wilderness enthusiasts. A traverse of the Arthur Range will envolve some rock ledge negotiation where pack hauling is necessary, so ropes an important item to add to your equipment. Technical rock climbing is an important asset, as there have been a number of fatalities. Planning and equipment are not only important, but could be the difference between life and death. This is only a hike for the most experienced. FURTHER INFORMATION Southwest National Park, Park Office, |
